The Government should not receive more money than is necessary to provide the limited services entrusted for the health, safety and welfare of society. Taxes should be reduced only when government is cut and spending is reduced. Cutting taxes, before spending is reduced, is flatly irresponsible. Current deficit spending, on the national level, is a prime example of this type of short-sighted decision making.

It has been proposed that citizens be permitted to vote on a local options tax, which would permit their particular region to increase taxes in their local area for additional governmental services. While this sounds like an incredibly American idea, it gives local government the ability to acquire an independent revenue source to grow and expand. It is tough to cut government back once it expands. The short term benefits of the local options tax does not outweigh the long term consequences. It should not be supported.
